Celtic are said to be vying with Rangers and a Serie A club for a teenage talent on the continent.

Brendan Rodgers has already been active in the transfer market looking for young players and Celtic have already signed young prospects Callum Osmand and Isaac English.

As well as adding players who can compete in the Celtic first-team, the Parkhead club are clearly still on the hunt for up and coming raw talent to bring to the club and develop.

And it seems that Celtic are going to battle it out with Rangers, Udinese and Ajax for a talented teenage midfielder this summer.

Celtic and Rangers make ‘calls’ about Serbian youth international Andrej Bacanin

Celtic and Rangers are said to be looking at talented versatile teenage defensive midfielder Andrej Bacanin.

The 18-year-old appears to be wanted across Europe and the midfielder’s sporting director Vladimir Matijasevic expects Bacanin to leave the club ‘in the next ten days’.

Matijašević told Cukaricki’s official website, “There is a lot of interest in our young players, and currently the focus is on the transfer of Andrej Bačanin.

“He attracted the attention of numerous clubs by playing for our team last season, but also for the Serbian national team at his age.

“We had calls from the Scottish giants Celtic and Rangers, Ajax, Udinese, and some other teams are interested.

“It is possible that some other options will appear, and I expect the transfer to be realized in the next ten days.

“I expect that this will be another big outgoing transfer of Cukaricki, which would cover the budget of our club.”

Who is Celtic target Andrej Bacanin?

At 18, Bacanin has been capped 25 times for the Serbian youth international team from u15 to u19 level combined.

Versatile, the talented midfielder can play in a variety of positions that include attacking midfield, left and right of a midfield three, the central area and, of course, his most comfortable position, defensive midfield.

A product of the FC Cukaricki youth academy, Bacanin broke through to the first-team last season making 19 appearances, scoring one goal and providing two assists.
